Colchester Town Centre

Recently stayed here over the weekend, was super pleasant and comfortable stay, the room was very lovely and cozy. Staff was really friendly and helpful with everything I needed I’d like to give a special thanks to Charlotte always had a smile and amazing personality, was always will to help Thank you premier inn :) definitely would return without a doubt

We stayed for one night in a premier plus room. The facilities of the room were not up to a modern standard with the only shower being a fixed head over the bath with very high sides (this is hardly suitable for anyone over 70). The power sockets were limited (none on right side of bed) and no USB connections. The room smelt of stale tobacco and the carpet was stained. I hate to think what a standard room was like. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was acceptable. At the price charged the room was much below the expected standard. Staff, when available in the evening, were rather negative with any request.

Travelled here for work April 2025. Nice pleasant rooms, with good food at breakfast. However, food could have been warmer, but service was good. The surrounding areas were odd. A lot of nice came from the flats facing the hotel, with two adults shouting from their window as I walked to the station. Would be careful if I was to return. Other than that, OK.

Standard Premier Inn, very quiet, near to town centre. Staff friendly. Room fine. 20 minute flat walk from station. Bed comfy, only had one set of towels when we arrived but given more when asked. Top up coffee tea and milk in foyer. Would use again if we needed to stay in Colchester again.

Worst trip and experience of my life . Massive breach of safety . Young girl staying alone , a man entered my room in the early hours of the morning with a key card given to him by the receptionist. I was obviously freaked out screaming at this man to get out , at this point I didn’t know how this man had entreated my room . I locked myself in the bathroom crying then a bit later the same man came back knocking loudly which disturbed others guests . Another guest told the man to stop knocking she’s not going to open the door and then a key card was then slipped under the door . This then freaked me out more . During this whole thing I was on the phone to my friend . How on earth did this man get a key card to my room ? I went down to reception and the man on reception ( William ) confirmed yes he did give the man the key as the man said he was my partner and we’d had an argument and id chucked him out the room … and just like that gave him a key card . This man didn’t even have to give my address or phone number or any details to get access into my room . Also id booked a single occupancy room so why would I have anyone else staying with me ? It clearly says on the booking for my name 1 person . Also again if that was a true story does the hotel not have any duty of care to check on if it was an argument? Is that person ok ? Was there any visible signs of physical violence? Guests had just heard screaming and shouting to get out the room and noise complaints. I then had to ask to be moved rooms as the receptionist wasn’t offering anything he then said yes he could move me rooms but the only room available is … and said the room which this man was in and said the name of the man’s dad ( who he was staying with ) the full name too . Massively breaching gdpr . Honestly the failings of the hotel . I reported everything to the manager upon check out and the manager said he’d spoken to William in handover but nothing of what’s going to happen as any outcome .

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Mainly towards a lady that works there called Jess. We arrived at the hotel and she was lovely from the get go. We got to our room and all was fine but our son is too long for the travel cot so I asked to have a spare duvet and pillows and I was just going to have him on the floor! Or my husband on the floor. The lady insisted no and looked for a bigger room for us, she found a quad room and the size, cleanliness and everything was perfect and we had an amazing nights sleep in between my son being unwell. Unfortunately we were meant to be there for 2 nights but had to leave after 1 due to my son having a sickness bug. The hotel itself is perfect and everything you need but if you’re greeted with Jess then it’s an even better stay. It makes being away from home better when you know there is someone nice around. We will be returning here when we are back in Colchester.
